Contemporary Security and Conflict, or CONSECON for short, is a website dedicated to producing articles on the key factors of international relations and conflict. It analyses recent events and combats the misconceptions of overly simplified media narratives that spin events so substantially to fit their political views that the truth is undermined. It does this by providing a more detailed explanation of international affairs. Impartiality is essential to this project, so CONSECON does not proscribe any international actor as “good” or “bad”. Instead, it views the world as a multitude of competing conglomerations of humans, dealing with the imperfect circumstances that pervade the globe. Often, regrettably, to the extreme and often inadvertent detriment of one another’s populations.
Impartiality is an essential component of what makes media and news valuable and productive. It is something claimed by almost every news outlet, but in recent times, neutrality and what constitutes it has only become more subjective.

Shayan Fallahi

Contemporary Security and Conflict is made up of articles written by myself, Shayan Fallahi MSc, a graduate of War Studies from King’s College London and of International Public Policy from University College London. I hope my extensive education in the field of international relations grants me the critical thinking skills necessary to challenge my own biases, enabling me to create useful pieces of information. However, I am human and therefore subjective despite my best efforts, so keep that in mind when viewing these papers.
